God Will Provide and God Protect Me – Help Me Find God
So how does one qualify for the incredible promises that God has made for us? Are you questioning whether God will provide for you or if God will protect you? Is it only for the select few that God chooses? Is it God’s choice at all? Or is the invitation open to any and all. And if it is, how does one qualify for it?
In the old testament, the book of Psalms was written by King David, the second King of Israel. His back story is amazing but I won’t get into that now. Let it suffice to say that He did some really awful things when He was king, but all the time retained a close relationship with God, so that at the end of his life, God refers to David as “A man after God’s Heart”
The following is something David wrote that literally tells us unequivocally how to walk through life under God’s protective hand, (also referred to as dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty) so that no harm will befall you, and you will go through life with God’s blessings overtaking you where ever you go.
The 91st Psalms is short but incredibly significant, and is basically in two parts.
1. He describes the nature of the protection, then he tells you how anyone can qualify for it by taking some very simple steps. The first part of the 91st Psalms says this:
God Will Provide Scripture
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. (Psalms 91:1 Amplified Bible)
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust! For it is He who delivers you from the snare the trapper, (Satan) and from the deadly pestilence. (Psalms 91:2,3 New American Standard)
He covers you with his feathers, and you find shelter underneath his wings. (Psalms 91:4 Jerusalem Bible) You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow [the evil plots and slanders of the wicked] that flies by day…(Psalms 91:5 Amplified)… nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. (Psalms 91:6 New International Version)
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not approach you…you yourself will remain unscathed…it shall not come near you…(Psalms 91:7 New American Standard-Jerusalem Bible-Amplified Bible) … you will only observe with your eyes… only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked. (Psalms 91:8 New International Version-Amplified Bible)
No evil will befall you… (Psalms 91:10 New American Standard) No disaster can overtake you, no plague, come near your tent: he will put you in his angels’ charge to guard you wherever you go. (Psalms 91:11 Jerusalem Bible)
Pretty powerful stuff, right? Think carefully about what this is saying. Not only does He protect certain individuals from death, pestilence, plagues etc, and guarantees that you will only be a spectator (yourself inaccessible), but He says that He will put you in the charge of Angels to guard you wherever you go!
2. Qualifying For God’s Promises?
So how does one qualify for the incredible promises that God is making here? Is it only for the select few that God chooses? Is it God’s choice at all? Or is the invitation open to any and all. And if it is, how does one qualify for it?Well, if God is “no respecter of persons”, ( the act of showing favor to one on account of rank, family, wealth, or partiality arising from any cause.) who gets these promises in their lives and who doesn’t get, cannot be God’s decision. It has to be something that we either do or don’t do to qualify.
God Will Provide ScriptureIn the second half of the 91st Psalms, David goes on to tell us who qualifies to receive this supernatural protection, and like everything else with God, it is not complicated, hidden or mysterious. In fact, it couldn’t be easier for anyone who is willing to lay aside their innate desire to be their own gods. Here is what David describes as the person who qualifies for these incredible goodies. Here God is talking through King David and describes the conditions that bring about the protection He promises as just described.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him (when he is) in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” (Psalms 91:14 – 16 NKJV)
What God is asking for here in order to provide us with this protection is that we purpose to have a close, intimate relationship with Him. Why? Because unless we purpose to do this, God has no legal right to give us this protection even if He wanted to. To do this we cannot continue to believe that God is a far off. We must understand that He is always ‘right there’, waiting for us to call upon Him for these things. If we will simply put Him first in our lives, He will put us first, and will give His angels charge over us where ever we go.
Once again, we see by this that we have been “Spiritually Hoodwinked” by organized religion, to believe that whoever gets these promises operating in their lives is the arbitrary decision of God, to fulfill one of His mysterious purposes.
There are only two reasons that I can think of why every Christian is not cashing in on these promises. One is that they are unwilling to pay the price by getting into a close relationship with God, or two, they think it is entirely up to God who receives these incredible promises, and they don’t think it can apply to them.
I produced a video to the classic song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel. It reminds me of God’s love for us and how He will provide for us and always lifts my spirits-Enjoy and experience the love of God!
